“When I started, I was very much inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson, André Kertész, Man Ray, Robert Frank, Joan Fonctuberta, José Oiticica Filho and Geraldo de Barros”, reveals Vasconcellos. The influence of these masters is clear in the Paris (where else?) series. The heavily contrasted black-and-white, the quasi-surrealistic atmosphere, and a general feeling of solitude is conveyed by the curious young professional who uses his intuition as a tool to find his own path in this intimate, nostalgic photo-reportage where fragments of an image sprouts inside another fragmented image, on a mirror, through a shop window, on the metro…
